1889 June 12, 4th Class Post Office established as Briceland, Humboldt, California located 8 miles west of Garberville. Named for John C. Briceland, developer of the townsite.

1894 December 28, San Francisco Call, Washington, Dec. 27. - The special mail service from Briceland to Frank, Humboldt County, will be discontinued from January 27, 1895; also from Briceland to Shelter Cove.
