1857 December 2, Post Office established as Orleans, Klamath, California located 8 miles southwest of Somes Bar and 28 miles northeast of Hoopa on the Klamath River. The 1850 gold mining camp was called New Orleans Bar.

1859 October 31, John Pearch, Postmaster.

1874 March 28, Into Humboldt County when Klamath County dissolved.
