1912 April 20, 4th Class Post Office established as Tomki, Mendocino, California, located 10 miles northwest of Potter Valley per the Application for Post Office which was dated 1910 November 30. On the application, Richard Hoddinott was to be the Postmaster.

Using the established date, Albert A. Clapp was the first Postmaster.

1912 October 31, Post Office discontiuned and the service moved to Potter Valley.

1872 March 1, Post Office established as Tomkiah, Mendocino, California, located 10 miles northeast of Little Lake (Willits). Name derived from Pomo Indian word "mtomkia" the name the tribe gave Little Lake Valley.
