1884 January 26, 4th Class Post Office established as Cornell, Modoc County, California located 12 miles west of Clear Lake and 50 miles north of Lookout. John H. Cornell of the pioneer family for which the post office received its name was the first postmaster. Discontinued October 20, 1890, the P O was again established on December 23, 1890 until it was discontinued December 31, 1904 and the service moved to Tule Lake.

1889 September 21, Forest L. Foster, Postmaster.

1890 December 23, Heiro K. Cornell, Postmaster.

1896 March 30, William R. Brown, Postmaster.

1904 December 31, P O discontinued and service moved to Tule Lake.
