GRAVES, Alva Calvin (1901- 1953)

Alva Graves, Rancher, Dies - Alva Calvin Graves, 52, died yesterday afternoon [3 August 1953] in a local hospital a few minutes after he suffered a heart attack. Coroner E. Duge Stanford said today that death was caused by a coronary occlusion.

A stock raiser and rancher in the Ono area for 23 years, Graves was a co-partner with Ted Nelson in operating the Shasta County Livestock Auction Yard at Anderson since December of last year.

He was born June 27, 1901 at Beegum Creek, Tehama County.

He was a member of the Ono Grange, Shasta County Farm Bureau, and the California State Cattlemen's Association.

He leaves his wife, Loleta L. Graves, Ono; two sons, Roy A. of Ono and Ray C. Graves with the U.S. Army in Austria; two daughters, Emma Lou and Linda Ruth Graves, both of Ono, two brothers, Frank Graves of Hilt and Marvin of Red Bluff, and a sister, Lolita Graves of Red Bluff.

Funeral arrangements are being completed at McDonald's Chapel. Burial in Lawncrest Cemetery, Redding, Shasta, California.
