1896 January 10, 4th Class Post Office established as Box, Plumas, California located 6 miles west of Bucks and 10 miles east of Merrimac. Name shortened from "Letter Box" at the mining trading center.

Eugene Day, First Postmaster.

1901 March 30, Post Office discntinued and the service moved to Bucks.
