DREW, James Simpson (1833-1910)

Reportedly a mining engineer from the east coast, James Drew was brought to California to supervise the work of the Chinese on Roaring River. He obtained two parcels of land in this area, homesteading one of them in the 1880's.~

1909 September 27 - James S. Drew of Gas Point was in Redding as a witness in a Superior Court civil case. Mr. Drew has been a resident of Shasta County since the early 1850s and prided himself on being a reader of the first issue of the Shasta Courier newspaper published in March 1852.
